Eco Drill (England) Ltd has carried out major projects for McAlpine, Carillon, EDF, NEDL, Central Networks, Skanska, Murphy & Sons, Southern Water, Essex & Suffolk Water, Tripod Crest, Holleran Ltd, Exoteric Gas Solutions, Morrisons and Enterprise.
Most of these projects were full turn key utilising No-Dig innovations.

In 2006 Eco Drill was formed and under took its first project for Murphy & Sons. The project was to install 1.6km of a double 33kva cable circuit along the embankments of the busy A19 near Sunderland. It seemed that here was a contract that nobody would undertake which gave us the perfect opportunity to excel.
All the works had to be carried out between 20.00hrs and 06.00 hrs this was due to restrictions in placed by the local council and highways agency, the estimated time for completion was 5 weeks, using directional drilling the works were completed in just 8 nights ducts drilled in cable installed joints made holes back filled and reinstated. This was the start of a long term partnership with Murphy’s & Sons on their term contract with NEDL in the north east, since that time we have now got 6 gangs on this contract with 2 grab wagons, 2 reinstatement teams, 1 directional drilling rig and 2 gangs all on 24hr standby for fault repairs.

"When you’re up against tight deadlines you need a civil engineering partner you can trust and that’s exactly what we have with Eco Drill. They are able to swiftly react to all our needs and can mobilise both plant and labour in short timescales which is crucial to our business"

John Fitzgerald, Contracts Manager, Murphy & Sons

Eco Drill Key staff has many years experience of working within the gas and water industry and are working towards gaining Girrs registration as well as ISO 1401 AND ISO 9001.

Major gas and water contracts have been completed by Eco Drill for Carrlion and Enterprise installing new mains and services utilising various techniques including slip lining, pipe bursting, directional drilling and traditional open cut. These sites typically range in size from 500m to 4km in urban and rural areas.

A recent project carried out on an ongoing contract for Enterprise was the installation of new gas mains in the busy town centre of Ilkley. This consisted of the upgrading the deteriating gas supply in the town centre. The area was very congested not only with traffic and pedestrians but also with other utilities. Major traffic management was needed to divert traffic around the already busy town centre and, due to working in such close proximity to the public, health and safety were paramount.

These works were not only completed 4 weeks in front of schedule but also without incident.

"Enterprise prides itself on being a safe pair of hands to its Customers for quality, timely completions. For this to be achieved we are reliant upon the performance of our valued subcontractors to assist with this ethos. We have worked with Eco Drill on several projects where it is evident that they share our goals and have formed a proactive part of the team. Eco Drill’s credentials are second to none and that’s why we like to work on projects with them – they’re very reactive and professional – a trusted civil engineering partner for us".

Colin Smith, Contracts Manager, Enterprise Ltd

Hambeldon & Wormley First Time Sewerage System

Eco Drill was proud to be awarded a No Dig sewerage contract for Southern Water to the value of
£1.2 million. These works comprised of installing approx 3000m of rising main in a quiet rural hamlet. Due to environmental issues Southern Water had already designed the bulk of the works to be carried out using no dig technology.
Sewer pipes were needed to be installed through dense woodland, under streams and other sensitive areas including private gardens and landscaped areas. Eco drill deployed 2 directional drilling rigs and 2 guided auger boring rigs to site installing pipes up to 500mm in diameter up to lengths of 200m.

The most recent of these pipe runs to be installed was a directional drill through dense woodland and under a pond 120m in length at 6m deep to a gradient of 1 in 230. This run was completed within 8 days and was within 20mm tolerance, casting a reflection on the high standard of our equipment and labour. Earning Eco Drill well earned praise for their work.

"We enjoyed working with Eco Drill on this project. Eco Drill are now our first call for specialist installations."

Kevin Howe, Health and safety Manager, Holleran Ltd
